YA Blogosphere Lovefest: Riv Re

Today, YA writers all over the blogosphere are joining together for a YA blogosphere lovefest, and we were each given a secret bloggy Valentine to lavish some affection on. Thanks to Kate Hart, Sarah Enni, Kristin Halbrook (formerly Miller), and Tahereh Mafi for organizing such a brilliant and sweet event.

My Secret Valentine is the lovely and talented:

Though I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting Riv in person, I feel as though I know her after having spent some time on her wonderful blog. Here are just a few things I now know and love about Riv:

There are unicorns on her blog header. Unicorns! (Hence the image above.) In first grade, my best friend and I pretended we were unicorns at recess. Riv and I would totally have been friends in first grade.

Though she’ll warn you that her jokes are lethal, I’d argue that her casualties died laughing.

She manages to combine Rain Man, swords, feral cats, and Ashton Kutcher in one fabulous “15 Fun Facts About Me” post.

Her WIP Eberheardt sounds like a thrilling combo of dystopian angst, fantastical world-building, fairy-tale dreamscapes, and political intrigue—and she leaves us guessing about her other book, Payment in Blood!

She posts some wonderful contests—like this one!

Her ten-star rating system is both thorough AND amusing:

Her book reviews are thoughtful, funny, informative, and entertaining, all at once. She manages to be critical of the books she reviews but ever-supportive of the authors and their work. What a hard balance to achieve! (Thanks to Riv, my to-read list has doubled in length.)

She is following her dream of becoming a published author, and doing it with style.

If you’d like to get to know Riv better, check out her blog.
And thank you to Abby Stevens, a new friend whose Valentine’s Day words made me just a wee bit choked up today.
Check out Kate Hart’s blog for the full list of blogs participating today.
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

Yay! I’m so touched! Thanks for loving my blog, it’s hard to be deadly funny. (Well, sorta…)
Just wondering if you could do a little switcheroo thing on the post? Can you change it to “Riv Re”? No pressure, thanks.
One of my absolute favorite posts I’ve ever read 🙂 Glad I could affect your TBR in such a great way!

Yay! Glad you liked the post, Riv! And so so sorry about your name–my Secret Valentine email had your name listed as “Reiter” 🙂 I’ve fixed the title, and I’ll fix the image when I can access Photoshop at work tomorrow. Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
